Machete outdoes gun in attempted robbery

Thanks to some quick thinking, this deli clerk in Long Island averts a potential disaster.

Closed circuit TV footage shows a robber busting into the store pointing a gun at the clerk.

He fires a shot.

The deli clerk then reaches under the counter - and pulls out a machete and chases the would be robber out of the store.

The store owner said they got the giant knife a few weeks ago, quote 'for protection'.

Seems like it may have been a good weapon of choice.
