Description

After 15 years in prison, Macau gangster Wan "Broken Tooth" Kuok-koi is free.

The former triad leader is infamous for his role in bloody gangland turf wars and illegal gambling deals during the 1990s.

He was also involved in the movie business and helped produce the film "Casino", which followed the violent hijinks of gangs and high rollers.

Macau is still known for its glitzy casinos, hotels and shopping districts, as well as its darker underbelly.

Gangs are also responsible for recruiting and transporting high-rollers and offering credit and debt recovery for players frequenting lucrative VIP gaming rooms.

These kinds of games make billions for Macau's gambling industry and are worth more than 70 percent of total gambling revenue at $33.5 billion annually.
