Luther Hippolyte - Nostalgia
9 Views • Jun 13, 2014
Description
The times I bore the unshed skin of childish ways.
I interpreted sentences watching images in books
And run outside nude on rainy stormy days.
I didn't care less about broken bottles
Or pointed thorns awaiting my intrusion.
I wrestled in stony sandy beaches
And played dancing with waves, slow motion
But now, I'm grown, still playing with crooks,
The thorns are there but they now prick
And pain, like the throb of killer spiders
May be, growing up made me weak.
I feel as if the waves are stronger now.
I remember how warm and sweet it felt then
But now, aloof and cold as flakes of snow.
Sadly, I long the solace of childhood days... but when
I'm a cockroach confronted by hungry roosters
And even if I should plead for mercy,
My solo wouldn't minister grace to its death ears,
What remains is the parched corpse of me.
