Friends dress up as ‘minions’ from Despicable Me for the funeral of deceased Royal Marine Commando
A group of lads pumped life into a friend’s funeral by going as an army of Minions.

Luke Ireland, 20, a Royal Marine Commando, was found dead after going missing during an exercise run in bad weather conditions in Glen Cova, Scotland.

The decision to go as members of Gru’s yellow workforce was not random as he and his friends had recently dressed up as Minions for Halloween.

Luke’s best friend,Jason Myles wrote on Facebook: ‘If anyone was to describe Luke in one word it would definitely be a “lad”.

‘Always up for everything, always at the centre of our greatest stories.

‘I’m sure if he was still with us he would appear in one your stories at some point, so for him to appear on it would be an absolute honour.’
Many of the marines who attended the funeral had also taken part in the search attempt to find him.

The massive search operation involved 250 Marines and army personnel coordinating their attempts with Tayside Police, mountain rescue teams and search helicopters.
Ireland’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Dan Cheesman said of him: ‘The untimely death of Royal Marine Luke Ireland in the mountains of Glen Clova has come as a tremendous shock to all who knew him.

‘Luke’s insatiable sense of humour, zest for life and moral courage made him an outstanding Royal Marines Commando.
