Louis Vuitton spins into Spring
Description
Marc Jacobs adds to the cycle of fashion.
The American designer showed his Spring/Summer collection for Louis Vuitton on a white carousel, with models jumping off to take their turn on the catwalk.
Suits were loose, chic and in bright colors like yellow, mint green and baby pink.
However, heavier fabrics like crocodile on leather jackets and bags, prevented the looks from becoming too bubblegum sweet.
Jacobs says he used the fashion carousel as a metaphor for the non-stop circular motion of fashion.
SOUNDBITE: Marc Jacobs, designer, saying (English):
"I see this carousel in Paris at the Tulleries and it reminds me of spring and summer and what a lovely feeling. It's also a metaphor for the fashion that just goes around and around and it never ends. And something that's just continuous is such a pleasure and there is no end. It's just a beautiful ride, a merry-go-round, just delight in the simplicity of going around it."
Jacobs is rumored to replace ousted designer John Galliano at Dior - but if Jacobs knows where his fashion merry-go-round will stop, he's not saying.
SOUNDBITE: Marc Jacobs, designer, saying (English):
"I don't have anything to say. I work at Louis Vuitton, this was a Louis Vuitton show."
