lost soul - Distraction

I see him just sitting there
I wonder should I say anything
I try, I succeed, and we talk
Before the show, at dinner,
I find out about him and
He asks about me
I can feel myself blushing as
I secretly try to get a
Seat next to him, No luck
During the show he sits
Next to an empty chair
Tempted to go, I stay
It was the biggest mistake of my life
I deny feeling anything
Months later after
I give up on a distraction
To keep my mind off of him
A sweetheart skate
I refuse a chance to be near him
All because of pride
My final distraction fails
I come back months later,
Still feeling how I felt
On that first night
My heart tears
He is finally out of my grasp
And into another’s
As I recall, if I never fell for the distraction
Or fearing what may happen
Maybe, just maybe
We could have been together
