Loan growth slows in August

Affin Hwang Capital said that the banking system's loan growth as at August 2014 was up 4.6 per cent year to date which trailed its 2014 target of 9 per cent due to higher repayments.

However it said that its channel checks revealed that certain sectors of the banking sector may witness a pick up in loan growth in the second half of the year.
