If I had a chance to choose
The day before I came to being
I would've asked all mighty JAH
To please, make me black

As black as the night
Because the night is beautiful
As black the sea
Because my thoughts run as deep

As black as the soil
Because my spirit is as rich
As black as the cloud of rain
Because my sweat feeds the earth

Black, brown eyes, woolly hair
Black, big nose, thick lips
That I may swallow the rainbow
And radiate ultra-freedom rays
