RESCUED LEGUAN MAKES A LIGHTNING-FAST DASH BACK TO FREEDOM

A rescued leguan was released back into the wild and wasted no time sprinting away, leaving its rescuers laughing in relief.
The video was filmed by Lynn Bremner, 63, a horse riding coach from South Africa, and was shot near a dam close to Chikara Stables in Nooitgedacht, Gauteng.
The reptile was discovered in Lynn’s garden after dogs began barking frantically from a nearby cottage.
Fearing the leguan could be injured, Lynn carefully secured it and transported it to a safer area away from people and animals.
Moments after release, the leguan bolted back into the landscape at surprising speed.
The encounter was another reminder that wild animals are still sharing space with people in the area.
Lynn said: “The dogs in the top cottage were barking frantically. When I went to look, the leguan was in the garden defending itself.
“I was mainly worried that a dog would bite it.
“I rescued a bigger leguan about 20 years ago and regularly help hedgehogs, bats, and any wildlife that turns up.
" We’ve even had snakes and a wildebeest in the garden before.
“When he ran, I laughed. He ran so fast.
“I’m so delighted that we still see wild creatures in the area.”
