Lisa K.L. - The Spider

Such a wee little thing of body and legs
The spider in my window right
And web you spin
In web you hunt
Poor creatures caught in silky wind
You kill and eat and leave no thought
Whilst I watch with eyes of fear
As you go ‘bout and spin and sleep
In corners dark and open air
The hair of silk from belly spin
I wonder how far it’ll take you down
The long and wooden wall of house
You seem to never leave my sight
Why so content in corner small
Sky behind and window tall
As life itself ’s found only there
No need to go and explore anywhere
You live each day in sweet delight
And hundred thousand babies flow
From silky mass they’re born and grow
Till you are gone and baby grown
But all I see is wee black spot
Of spider in my window right
