Residing in my heart, but coursing throughout.

You have taken this poor, embittered soul
And transformed me into Lover, Friend, and Sleepy Adversary,
Fighting for the warmth
Held so deeply inside of you, beneath your breast.
To hear and feel your love wooshing, pounding,
Singing away your lovely serenade,
Throughout the night, always fully aware;
Even when thoughts of you invade my dreams,
That our hearts might beat as one.
Sometimes I fear my ribcage will crack and bend
For my escaping heart, as it's dancing in my chest,
Trying to tear free to be closer to you, my heart's true keeper.
