Lion Attacks Trainer During Performance at French Circus

A lion attacked and wounded its trainer during a performance at the Buffalo Circus in Doullens, near Amiens, on May 7.

Dramatic video from a woman in the audience shows the lion grappling with the trainer before being subdued, allowing the trainer to escape.

The trainer, named in French reports</a> as Steeve Loberot, was badly wounded in the head and throat, and transported by helicopter to a hospital in Amiens. He was operated on for several hours. Buffalo Circus said he was recovering. In a post on Facebook</a>, the circus also said that, contrary to some early reports, the lion would not be euthanized.
