Description

In Tripoli, the army had a message for the city's rogue militias ---- Leave or risk being removed by force

The move comes on the heels of Libyan military's success in driving armed Islamist groups from Benghazi and Derna.

Locals applauded the decision.

SOUNDBITE: Tripoli citizen Ali Nasr El-Dine saying:

"We've had enough. We want a Defense ministry, an Interior ministry, and we want a national army. We don't want any more militias. The revolution is over, and Muammar is gone, thank God, Allah Ahkbar."

Armed groups, such as the Islamist militia linked to the attack on the U.S. consulate have been a major force in Libya since Muammar Gaddafy's death. While the central government has relied on them for help with security, they've also struggled to control them.
