Liberians form Ebola task force

Residents of this county on the outskirts of the Liberian capital have formed their own Ebola task force.

People who enter the area have to wash their hands and have their temperatures taken to help stop the spread of the disease.

Grand Cape Mount officials say around 20 people in the community have died since the first cases started appearing in September.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEPUTY TOWN CHIEF, MOMO MASSALEY, SAYING:

"Since the outbreak, let me be bold with you -- we overlooked the whole situation that was going on. We overlooked the whole thing; it was just recently that we are beginning to know that Ebola is real. Most of the time people were going around with their family when they were sick and when some of them died and people were still going around."

Ebola's killed around 5,000 people, most of them in West Africa.
