Libby Harvey - Dinner time

Peeking over the mountain edge,
a lion crouches,
waiting, wanting, wrigging its prey,
ready to pounce at any waking moment.

Just below, in the calm prairie
a shy antelope, off guard and unaware,
nibbles on its green grass.
an innocent creature, with no headstart.

Crawling, creeping, carefully approaching.
cluck, skip, whoosh, thud!
Successful lion, throwing down its dinner.
All things feed from another.
