Liam ó Comáin - THE HERON

One summer's evening
near the M1
from an access road
I watched a tall legged
heron glide from its
high nest along the river
to the weir where it
landed silently
observing and snatching
a trout which it carried
laboriously in large
winged movements
back to its roost
