Banging on my door
Each and every one of them
Anxiously wanting to know
How long it will take
To realise their dream
Of speaking the language
With élan and fluency
The answer comes pat
I am afraid that for that
You will have to work diligently
And exceedingly hard
Nothing is impossible
Nothing remains a dream
If your desire is strong enough
And your efforts are sincere
So don’t lose heart
Don’t be impatient
Everything will happen
In its own good time
This is what I can promise you
From my side of the fence
And what I need from you
Is perhaps already there:
Your sincere commitment
And belief in yourself
