Lee Crowell - Laugh With Me

I'm totally out of my mind drunk
Jack Daniels, five doubles on the rocks
and white ale
something new from our friend Sam Adams
if the beer is named after an old president or someone else
I don't really care right now
because the Jack is what put me under
you know 'the influence'
yes and some of you, come on you know who you are
some of you disapprove
of my degenerativeness
of my lack of respect for 'the temple' god gave me
for filling my veins with poison
but oh how that poison makes me numb
and oh how I can reflect on the meniality in my life
I can laugh at the sordidness I have succumbed to
I can lift up my chin, gaze at the whirring sky and not even realize that it shouldn't look like it's whirring
not even consider that perhaps my condition is a distortion of the truth
that my brain is not capable of understanding the message from my eyes
and the final challenge here is getting to bed before it's too late to say I slept a few hours,
and that the sleep has rejuvenated me for whatever comes around the next day's events
I humbly submit this drivel to you
and hide behind the veneer shell of a man
supposedly absorbed in his art
