Le Web: next decade's key tech trends

Le Web, one of the most eagerly awaited events for start-ups and entrepreneurs, is now in its 10th year.

The aim of the conference is to look at what awaits us over the next 10 years and reflect on the key trends that have defined the previous decade.

Once the chief evangelist for Apple, Guy Kawasaki is now an author and investor.

“We’re probably more interested in what’s disruptive and what’s going to change the world and what’s the next Google, what’s the next YouTube, what’s the next Facebook, and the answer to that question is ‘I don’t know’. Because if I knew, I would invest in it,” said Guy Kawasaki.

Uber, one of the cool kids in the startup block, is a venture-funded Transportation Network company based in San Francisco. The company’s CEO, Travis Kalanick, told euronews about his vision for the future of transport:

“I think transportation is going to be very exciting. I don’t think that children born after today are ever going to learn to drive. There is going to be no more driving and the impact that’s going to have on people’s lives is time given back to them, and the changes it’s going to have for cities around the world, it’s a big deal, it’s a game-changer,” said Travis Kalanick.

For those who couldn’t make it in person, Google Plus hangouts provided an opportunity for live video chats.

James Siminoff, the chief inventor of a new Wi-Fi-connected doorbell, sat down with Mark Davis of euronews for a session.

Mark Davis: “What do you see in the next 10 years, what is in store for us?”

James Siminoff: “I believe that high speed internet is going to be like power and water in houses. You have to expect that it is there. And the second thing is that the mobile phone will be always attached to every person.”
