Lawrence Beck - The Turtle's Tale

Half a triumph looms. I'll soon be leaving
Here. Where will I go? Can I escape the
Family home, its lethal air of torpid gloom,
Or will I only turn my back, not see it, as I
Bear it with me everywhere I choose to go,
Each intended paradise polluted by the one
Who'd hoped to lose his burdens there?
My past suggests that this is so. Thus, though
I'll pretend to triumph, pushing through the
Bolted door, and fly for hours from this
Place, I will not have moved.
