Description

The midnight deadline for Occupy Los Angeles demonstrators to vacate their encampment outside City Hall has come and gone...
Protesters have now spilled out into the streets and have blocked traffic intersections. Police say the number of protesters has grown to at least 2,000.
Earlier on Sunday, police handed out flyers alerting demonstrators that unless they packed up their tents and belongings and cleared out by the midnight deadline-- they'd be forcibly removed.
The Los Angeles encampment is among the oldest and largest of the Occupy Wall Street movements that's protesting economic inequality and excesses of the U.S. financial system.
Compared to other major cities, Los Angeles has been relatively accommodating to its Occupy group, with the mayor at one point providing rain ponchos to campers during inclement weather.
