Krishnarasa Seshadri - The Wedding Vows
2 Views • Nov 10, 2014
Description
Draped her in the vermeil silk.
The street they festooned,
And hung myrtles, and hallowed leaves.
Oh, they sang the nuptial ditties,
Till the pedantic priest bore no more,
And lit the holy fire, now with hymns on their lips.
They stood in awe, with tears in their eyes:
The wedding vows were uttered, and the knot was tied.
They sang, they laughed, they danced, exulted,
And left, they left, that happy hour expended,
And did not return when the vows were broken......
