Description

Standing half naked in sub zero temperatures, while your colleagues pelt you with snow.
This is how they test endurance in the South Korean army.
Over 200 soldiers braved the bitter cold as part of a winter military drill.
The exercise was conducted about 180 km east of Seoul, at the venue for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
(SOUNDBITE) (Korea) 24- YEAR OLD MEMBER OF SPECIAL FORCES KIM SUNG-HOON:
"The creed for our special forces is that we can do whatever cannot be done by others, and a man dies just once, not twice in his life. As a man I am proud to sacrifice myself for my country, so this kind of difficulty is nothing to me."
Among the various drills the troops also took part in more conventional exercises.
South Korea is still technically at war with the North after the 1950-53 Korean War ended without a permanent peace treaty.
