Can you sell me that flower, please
I'm trying to impress
a certain lady-friend putting my love
to the test
A rose would look perfect
with her sweet ruffled dress

Yes, that flower is expensive
however my love is quite intensive
even if it means paradise lost
I'll pay the price, no matter the cost

My watch? Oh yes, I'm certainly proud
it's antique, but otherwise very sound
it was given to me by a dear friend of mine
hoping it would help pass the time

Ah, I see you mean to trade
that rose for a watch foreign made
You want me to give something of mine
worth as much to me as that flower
means to you

Thank you, sir, for showing me
to receive, one must give equally
I think I said from the start
for her love I'd do my part
But, oh, look now at the time
I don't mean to be unkind

Sir, I can't see that pendant fully in the light
There's a rose in the way now blocking my sight
Can you sell me that pendant, please
