kevin glenn - Forty Today

Life begins at forty or so they say,
If that's the case my life starts today,
It's funny how a number dictates your life,
Because inside my head I've already been there twice,

I look in the mirror at this middle age man,
But when I move away from it I feel twenty one,
Your as young as you feel isn't that what they say,
Well I get up some mornings and feel eighty eight,

My life has been interesting up to now,
I've manage to get though some way some how,
I know it's just starting all over again,
A new chapter in my life with a brand new pen,

I have no regrets; no I wish I did this,
As it all happens for a reason not because I wish,
I don't get what I want but only what I need,
Trying not to feed my ego for the sake of greed,

So when you come up to me and say forty today,
IL smile with happiness and say is my prizey on its way.
