Kerela : Speaker Clarifies, Crippled with Disease

Thiruvananthapuram: Steering clear of the controversy over a driver assisting the Kerala Assembly Speaker to remove his footwear, N. Sakthan denied any wrongdoing on his part as he "suffers from a rare disease" that forbid him from bending.

The Speaker said he was afflicted by a rare disease, which damaged a vain causing an impairment to his vision in one eye completely and partially in the other. Doctors had advised not to bend or lift weight. For the past 18 years he has been following this as far as possible, he told mediapersons.
