A terrified mother and her two children lie on the floor playing dead as gunfire rings out in a Nairobi shopping mall on Saturday (September 21).
During what seemed to have been a lull in the shooting, a police officer in civilian uniform slides forward on his stomach to reach the family to lead them to safety.
The terrified woman hesitates before the police officer was able to persuade them to come with him.
Investigators and rescue workers were on Wednesday (September 25) picking through rubble of the mall after troops battled for four days with Islamist militants following the attack that killed at least 67 people and unknown number of assailants.
