kendall thomas - The Fjord

We entered through the narrow fjord,
emerald-sloped and glittering
with a silvery gleam
where once sailed Viking hordes,
and thought we saw golden swords
raised by phantom men
as if to demonstrate to us
that they were once the mighty lords
of all these ancient lands....
and then they vanished as if a dream.
