Ken Baker - Where Hearts Duel

where hearts duel like brave swords,
where kisses drip into sweet drinks,
where bones are held together,
in their original scabbards,
where we sing in the voice of the sky,
where somewhere in the fiery moon,
speech is keen, articulate and soothing.
(even more than truth) .
where the real world’s power and pain,
still measures wild joy in summers.
when evening falls quiet,
marked by a surreal calm.
in that there’s still an endless charm.
in our vain origins – broken ideals,
and soft language,
in this we can love in ways
that love was made for.
we can,
you and I.
