Description

flap your wings
e-z rider.
by the river.
palm sized,
beneath the freeway bridge,
flutter,
jerk the wind,
call your friends,
the screaming cars,
trucks,
no shame -
simply part of being home.

and me -
a protoplasmic mass,
driven by so-called intelligence,
revisiting the day
with a deluge of thoughts,
enough to tire out
an army.

sing tweeter,
give me an old-fashioned Audubon hello.
rally with your peers.
fly, circle, squeeze and breeze.
do what you do.
I've got a mountain to climb,
and your words lift me
like wings
to one who has none,
to one who can
only imagine.
