Description

Vaguely I remember how happiness feels
The memories of joy sting bitter,
For I know I can no longer have it
Sleep seems like my only escape
Though, I know it’s only for a moment of peace
Before the reality of this tragedy tears through my mind
I want to crawl out of myself
To be released from the visions of you
The haunting, everlasting vision of your fate
I feel you in the night
The soft, wet Earth beneath my feet
The cool breeze on my cheek
My regret, my guilt enveloping me
My heart icy and solid as the pavement where you lay
Since that instant
That one moment of screaming
Of reaching for you
A complete disregard for your own life
Then and still now
So much left to say
I can’t cry
Scream loud enough for you to hear me now
Or for the moment I just wasn’t enough.
