Kelli D. Williams - Portrait In Black
7 Views • Oct 29, 2014
Description
Above the fireplace
But I can't find a trace
Of the faces that use to be there
It's like it's reflecting how our lives use to be
And how it is now
It use to be full of color
And it use to be bright
But now it's full of darkness
And there's never any light
It's always night
The portrait that use to have our smiling faces
Is blank
It's just a portrait in black
I close my eyes
Hoping everything would go back to the way it was before
But when I open my eyes
The portrait is still blank
And my heart still holds the memory
Of you walking out the door
My tears fall down my face
And hit the floor
I couldn't believe that the portrait I loved
Was gone
The darkness of it
Made this house feel empty
Made me feel all alone
I couldn't believe that the portrait that had once been beautiful and bright
Was blank
That it was empty and dark
I couldn't believe that it was nothing more
Than a portrait in black.
