Kay Bressner - Saturday's Walk

I think I saw a cormorant,
yet did he greet me?
no, he can't

But I pretended that
he was happy to see me
as I to see him.

I think his name is Cormorant
or maybe it's Anhinga;
just figure either one of those
it doesn't make much diff'rence.

He was perched on a pipe
in the midst of the lake,
glancing here and there

When, later, I passed that way again
he was by the shoreline;
having met a heron friend.
