Katy Perry Banned from China

Katy Perry has been banned from China… and that means she will not be performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai.

The singer was set to perform at the tentpole event, but they’re gonna have to make do without her.

According to Page Six, Perry was initially informed that she’d be able gain access to the country, but that decision was reversed after the government caught wind of a controversial incident in 2015 – when Katy wore a bright dress with sunflowers on it during a performance in Taipei.

Why is that such a big deal?

Because the sunflower had been adopted the year before by anti-China protestors… and she also waved a Taiwanese flag during the concert in a show of support for the country, which has been butting heads with China for years over its independence.

She is reportedly being replaced by Harry Styles.
