Karon Yan - Christmas Cheers

People all around spreading holiday cheer
Saying Christmas is finally almost here
The children are jumping restlessly around
Getting in the way of adults doing their rounds
The adults are rushing in the store
Like the people on ships, finally reaching shore

On Christmas eve the children hung stockings up with care
They didn't want to stay awake, not they dare
After dinner they went straight to bed
While wonderful dreams filled their heads
There was a loud sound coming from the roof
A lot like horses stomping their hoofs
There was a scuff followed by a thud
Then someone whispered 'Try to be gentler next time bud'.'
There were some clonks
Then a final stomp
Then there were bells ringing that sounded really near

When Christmas day was finally here
People gathered together like herds of deer
Everyone was singing as loud as they could
People could hear them even while sawing wood
Children ran around faces full of joy
In their hands were brand new toys
Someone's voice seems to be echoing in everyone's ears:
'Merry Christmas To All, And To All A Good Night.'
