K.J. Jackson - Nomadic Maritime Strife

I miss my children, I miss my wife,
I miss my simple Island way of life,
I miss my home, the cool sea breeze,
I miss the ocean against my knees,
I miss the “Glen” and the red dirt roads,
I miss the “Singing Sands” beneath my toes,
I miss the feeling of a caring community,
I miss the way you can slow down and just be,
I miss the panoramic, starry sky at night,
I miss tucking my son in bed just right,
I miss a Sunday, lobster boat sail,
I miss the walks on Confederation trail,

But this is our reality, a way of life,
Known as “The Nomadic Maritime Strife”,
Forced to choose family and poverty,
Or head West, in search of opportunity,
Foresight is non-existent, in the powers that be,
But to only raise taxes, divide young families,
They drive us away from the home that we love,
Not a gentle nudge, no push, but a shove,
Children growing up and families apart,
This is not new, a beginning, a start,
But an assault on working class families, aimed,
The political inept, you should be ashamed,


I loathe the alone, on my own,
I loathe the terminal flights flown,
I loathe the bitumen smell in my nose,
I loathe the pipeline photo opt pose,
I loathe environmental rape,
I loathe tar sand pits agape,
I loathe the feeling, of being afraid,
That the future for my children, will fade,
I loathe the media and their askewed view,
Corporations pushing their agendas through,
I loathe the government and their spineless hides,
I loathe the fact they think we are blind,

There is a formidable end in sight,
Will all things, work out alright?
