Description

Out of the sands the stones gathered,
block on block rose a celestial stair
that centuries of desert winds
did not destroy the mausoleum of kings.

Time compounds mystery of means,
and yet pyramids remain and confuse reason,
symmetry is admired, mathematicians ponder,
and the world in all it's gathered wisdom
considers, but does not conclude,

and while the eyes of pharaoh's sleep,
the sphinx guard royal dreams
and Egypt, bleak under fierce sun
toils at the feet of slumbering gods.
