Description

NASA's Juno spacecraft managed to capture strange sounds when nearing Jupiter, as it approached the planet on June 24 and June 25.

The first chart shows data collected upon crossing the bow shock where supersonic solar wind is heated and slowed down by the planet's magnetosphere, according to NASA's official statement.

Displayed in the second animation is data captured by Juno a day later on the boundary between the magnetic field of the sun and the one of Jupiter, referred to as the magnetopause, as stated by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Juno spacecraft launched on August 5, 2011 from Cape Canaveral in Florida and reached its destination, Jupiter's orbit, on Monday (July 4).
