June Walker - Tall Trees

At the top of the road,
tall black trees wear crow's nests
like untidy Maori headdresses.
A passing breeze transforms stiff trees
into Polynesian dancers
swaying in the sun.
Crows call out drumbeat
and the leaves sing.
