Julia West (julesx 64) - ' Have I '

A new job have I, and one of which I am proud,
A new life have I, although I am mostly alone in the crowd.

Good friends - the best have I, although I sleep alone,
Special family have I, but away they live - but I must not moan.

No husband have I, I sent him away,
As we hurt each other - with words, each day - he stayed.

No children have I, God has them by his side,
I hope if they can see me - they look with pride.

This new life have I, it fills me with dread,
As I lay here alone, tucked up in my bed.

The 'what if's' feel like mountains,
My alone tears - shed like fountains.

But these things I cannot openly admit
As a certain husband would say I am the culprit.

And except for when my cat makes a playful sound,
Whilst leaping and rushing around.

The never-ending silence is truely overwhelming,
I am really wishing.... the phone would ring....

Checked a million times..... hearing the tone of a working line
Busy friends and family have I.
