A strange relationship.
By turns embracing it
Or wriggling in its grip.
Is it a cloister, safe,
Where I can take the veil
Restored to peace - or trapped?
A refuge or a jail?
Its silence deafens me -
Or opens up my ear
To something lost elsewhere,
Quiet, simple, clear.
