Elated and passionate
I cast my play
Exhilarated, my heart springs open with your entrance
But your face halts my leap
It begins to sink with dismay
I protract the scene
The room compresses with unease
As you riddle me with emotions and rhymes
Bewildered and confused
My mouth drops
Swollen by absent words
As you walk off the set

Somber and sober
I reenact my drama
Sequenced by embellished events
Inflated egos and contorted moments
Leads to melodramatic goodbyes
I’m left standing in a stagnant, haunting moment
Concluding to an enduring intermission
But clarity and closure trail loosely behind
Opening to a refreshing scene
Sunshine, in her breakthrough role
Enlightened, my soul takes flight
Until an surprising smile filled with hellos
Starts the series all over again

Content and numb
I compose my silent film
Rambling by day
Reserved and distant
I’ll walk on feeble beliefs
And circle endlessly around ambitions
Retreating at dark to the solace of the cold, calm night
As I watch hope riding on her stars
Parading around as she knows she owns the night

Delusional and creative
I script my tragedy
Played out to a self-destructive and ominous tune
Scattered with turbulent, mischievous plots
To break the boredom of routine
Because I know
I'll re-write the scene a million times
And it'll keep ending up with the same conclusion
