The winds of change brought heartache and pain,
At one time I believed that nothing could be gained.
Circumstances took me to the lowest of lows,
Guilt, blame and unforgiveness consumed my soul.
Turned me into someone I didn't even know.
Lost touch with reality,
Made decisions out of the emotions within me.
Trapped in the bondage of silence begging to be free,
Holding onto my chains willfully,
Feeling they were part of my destiny.
Some release came so naturally,
When I let the Comforter take hold of me.
But I kept my chains and my pain,
Even when the peace and joy came,
Time never overcame the clouds and rain.
Dark clouds still rolled in and took their liberty,
robbing me of a life of serenity.
Until now, I'm taking back my life,
No longer will I function out of the sadness and strife.
I am making the choice now to be free,
I haven't been waiting for healing, it's waited for me.
My past doesn't defy who I am,
I'm an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb.
Regret will no longer keep me so open,
Its made me who I am, and I'm not easily broken.
