Joseph T. Renaldi - Where We Once Played
2 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
And others merrily singing,
Many playing games all day,
Now, hand in hand we walk together
In the warmth of this fine weather
To the playground where we used to play.
There we recall our childhood wishes,
But now the teasing wind hisses
At the swings the years have left to decay.
The deteriorating wooden seats lie broken -
Neither one of us has spoken -
In the playground where we used to play.
Our hearts would be much lighter,
And the day would be still brighter,
To once again hear the children laugh the old way.
But their jolly voices are halted
And the silence is exalted,
In the playground where we used to play.
