Joseph T. Renaldi - Leprechauns
5 Views • Nov 09, 2014
Description
I see them every Saint Patrick's Day,
But when I try to confer with them
They always seem to scurry away.
They disappear so quickly,
I never know just how,
Though I'm so anxious then
And never fail to growl.
They dress in green, splendid clothing,
Their odd, shaped shoes make not a sound,
And I never see them mingle together
When other merrymakers are around.
I had a strong desire to join them
And clapped my hands with glee,
But they always seemed to fade away
As quick as quick can be.
They are leprechauns, elves of Irish folklore
And I've heard many Irish men say,
' They visit those who appreciate life,
Who savor the fun on Saint Patrick's Day.
Someday, If I believe in Irish folklore,
A leprechaun will take me by the hand
And whisper encouraging words in my ear,
' I will lead you to the hidden treasure in Ireland. '
