Joseph Milnes - The Leaf

It swayed in the wind
tenaciously hanging on
It was not ready to give up although
the others had gone
It was host to the birds who
gathered in its shade

But the chilled winds came
and the colors dimmed
And the birds had flown away
alone and sad it held its grip
Hopefully for another day
