Joseph Lee - This Old Man
44 Views • Jun 15, 2014
Description
I wonder what he is thinking
He grabs his breakfast and takes a bite
I wonder what he's drinking
An old man who's wife just died
Now alone with all the time
Could he be asking for his final ride
To take him to his prime?
He's loved and lost a few times now
His loss now might be his last
For his age shows through his furrowing brow
Unlike his mystical past
He's been a neighbour for so long
Never revealing his life to the world
He never tried hard to belong
Since he lost his little girl
On his chair, he seems so old
With the colour flushed from his face
His skin has gone deathly cold
It seems he has gone with grace
I never knew the old man well
But i feel a sorrowing pain
I say goodbye as my eyes swell
And I close the curtains on the rain.
