Description

Lying in the orcherd
deep within the trees
the sweetest taste of summer
rype, red cranberries

staring up through the blankets
of lush, leafy green
knowing that his eyes, his heart
rest... in me

stained fingers intertwine
the feeling so much like the stane
real and permanent
but our love cannot be washed away with rain.

walking to his pickup truck
reminiscing our time, hand in hand
kissing beneath the moonlight
wishing the night would never end

sleeping so peacefully
dreaming of his easy smile
tomorow he will call
and again we will eat cranberries for a while

i awake with a smile on my face
today is time with him
but as the day fades to night
signs of his loyalty show grim

ten after midnight
i hear the most beautiful sound
the ringing of my telephone
my heart starts to pound

i answer, my voice shakes
my body, full of chills
knowing that these next few hours together
will hold many thrills

But the voice i hear is not
No, its not the one i yearn
instead, it is a serious one
weighed down with concern

'im sorry miss' the sherrif said
'he was still so young
but God has taken him from out lives
just like his only son'

'He was drivin his pickup last night
and lost control of his pace
we found him with pail of red berries
and a smile on his face'

Despair controls my every move
as i stumble through the grounds
my one true love has gone and died
without a warning, without a sound

I sit in our spot deep in the woods
and look up through the trees
The stains, still fresh on my fingertips
Remind me of us, of cranberries
