Jonathan Sewell - (26) The Truth

Description
About: N/A
Foolishly fell for you cleverly contrived ruse
For you were never a true friend of mine and of me you used
My heart turned a blind eye to your ill-gotten gains
Which leaves me now to surmount unbearable pain
Your stolen goods were my heart and my trust
I played your game with the outcome unjust
You prowled around for an unsuspecting mark
Pouncing on me for I am a gullible lark
Taking advantage of my good natured condition
You tortured me like a vicious inquisition
My brain tells me I'm just as culpable as you
Because when I ignored my intuition it came true
Yet one falls in love the brain loses all control
Emotion becomes responsible for that person being cajoled
I didn't stop to think and my actions became rash
Leaving me susceptible to my altruism being gashed
When I am unable to trust my selflessness gets pushed away
I become reclusive taking the hurt day by day
Myself is the only person I have in the world
Everyone has ulterior motives which eventually unfurl
My destiny must be for me to be deceived
But what were you hoping to achieve
Whatever it was it must be worth the life that you destroyed
It must have worth the coldness of throwing me into a void
A void which is virtually impossible for me to escape
A void caused by leaving my heart agape
In the end love became a disingenuous game
Which ruined my life and invoked inexplicable shame
