she checked my hair
as she was a stylist
then commented on my sideburns
“I wouldn’t have them if I were you”
I’d also been cutting my own hair
for a couple years now
but she didn’t notice or comment
on that.

I tried not to stare too continually at her boobs
while she told me she wanted to be a nutritional
therapist
she gave me her card
with her phone number.
I left with plans
that our kids would hang out together
sometime.
I wondered if that was a weak
excuse for a date or if she
was just shy.
